There aren’t any specific organised cycle rides in Matlock itself, although Matlock, is a mecca for motorbike riders, that’s for sure. Matlock cycling club is one of the country’s premier groups, and always has a very busy programme of events and Stanley Fearns cycle shop in the town is one of Derbyshire’s longest established businesses, having been in Matlock for over 90 years and having an excellent reputation for friendly and helpful service.
Set on one of the main routes into the Peak National Park, they get customers from all over the country and sell the most up to date bikes and accessories. If you want to hire a bike, then the nearest cycle hire shop is at Middleton Top visitor centre, where a trail into the High Peak, or down by Cromford Canal, is a must for any cyclist appreciating nature. The routes on the cliff tops are really for walkers but a mountain bike enthusiast would have a great time if they’re careful!
