Flagg Races – Point-to-Point Steeplechases

Thousands of enthusiastic spectators enjoy Flagg Races, the thrilling spectacle of thoroughbreds racing across spectacular open countryside in the heart of Derbyshire’s glorious Peak District.

Flagg hosts every year – Every Easter Tuesday a thrilling Horse Racing Event.

Flagg Races is unique as a point-to-point course in that it is the only remaining point-to-point meeting to run the Hunt Members’ race over natural hunting country.

It’s a wonderful day out for the whole family,  All Dogs are welcome on leads.

Point to Point Horse Racing

Point to Point racing is Steeple Chase riding for amateur riders and the course means the riders race through the fields and across roads jumping dry stone walls and choosing which line to take to get to each point, this makes for a fantastic racing event and a great day out.

Flagg Races Pony Racing

Pony Racing followed by our usual card of 7 Point to Point Races.

A wonderful event for all the family, Flagg Races you can have a bet on the horses, bring a picnic, have a drink in the Bar and plenty more to do.

Flagg Races History

Flagg Races is organised by the High Peak Hunt and the event has run since 1892 and apart from two years during the war 2001 and 2003 this event has been held on Easter Tuesday.

The first point-to-point races were held on Flagg Moor in 1892 and apart from the war years and 2001 to 2003, the point-to-point has been held there on Easter Tuesday ever since. For many spectators, the real attraction at Flagg is the unique Hunt Members’ race over natural hunting country, starting in open country between the villages of Flagg and Pomeroy and finishing on the racecourse proper. In the mid-1980’s there were about 10 such ‘old-fashioned’ point-to-point races in existence but Flagg is now the only one in the country.

Flagg Races is a must if you are in the Peak District over the Easter period.
