About Northern Tea Merchants Originally Northern Tea Merchants’ café began life as a tea tasting room. It became a café in 2003 and has enjoyed a prominent position on Chesterfield’s Chatsworth Road since.

Northern Tea Merchants’ history goes back much further than 2003. The roots of the business can be traced to 1926. In this time Northern Tea Merchants’ name has become synonymous with high quality, internationally-sourced teas and coffees. As well as the shop and café, behind the scenes Northern Tea Merchants packs its own label tea bags, coffees, cocoa and vending products. In fact, it was one of the first companies to manufacture tea bags in the UK in 1972.

Today, as well as The Pekoe Café, Northern Tea Merchants supplies more than 3000 establishments with its tea, coffee and cocoa.
