Red Lion Bar and Bistro

Dating back to the 17th Century, The Red Lion Bar & Bistro is nestled on the edge of the stunning Peak District National Park only a short drive from Historic Chatsworth House and the market town of Bakewell and Matlock. On arrival relax and unwind in the lounge bar with friends, family or colleagues.  The real fires, comfy seating and low lighting create the perfect atmosphere.

All the food is sourced locally form the garden that is Derbyshire but owners Jo & Damian Dugdale go one step further and produce some of their own vegetables and herbs. A winner of Derbyshire Food & Drink, Gastro Pub of the Year 2016 is a reflection of the chef’s passion for delicious food, If it’s not in season they don’t use it.

The menus and specials board constantly evolve to include exciting local seasonal dishes.  Daily specials are available and if you can’t see your favourite dish the chefs are always happy to take advanced requests. The Market Menu is served Monday – Saturday with set two and three course menus and a delicious range of fresh sandwiches are also available.

The a la carte menu is served daily from 6pm with delicious starters like Old Coates farm shot Wood Pigeon, New Season Asparagus and mains including tender slow cooked fillet of Derbyshire Lamb and Braised Featherblade of Beef. Fresh fish is a firm favourite and once a year the Bistro has a fabulous Seafood Festival.

As part of National Game fortnight they also celebrate with a Game Festival with dishes including Rabbit, Wood Pigeon and Pheasant.

The bar offers a large selection of beers and local real ales, along with a wine menu which changes to complement the varying menu.

The adjoining Peak Edge Hotel which opened in April 2011 is a modern boutique hotel built to complement the existing Red Lion Bar & Bistro.

All 27 bedrooms are finished to a very high standard and boast picturesque views over the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.
