Grindon Memorial

Situated north of the village where a Halifax aircraft crashed on Grindon Moor on 13 February 1947. Six RAF men died in the crash bringing relief to the stricken and remote village during the great blizzard of 1947. During the phenomenal weather of that 1947 winter the villages of Grindon, Onecote, Wetton and Butterton were completely cut off from road transport.
