Lion Head Rock In Dovedale
Dovedale is probably Derbyshire’s finest Dale and this natural curiosity, part of a limestone cliff, is situated about a mile and a half from the Stepping Stones at the southern entrance to the dale. There are many more of these strange rock formations to be found at Dovedale, most of them named.
Moot Hall In Wirksworth
Wirksworth was an important lead mining centre for centuries, and a Barmote Court has sat here to settle mining disputes since 1814. It still sits twice a year. Inside is a Miners Standard Dish, dated 1513, which was used for measuring the ore, as a levy had to be paid to both the King, and the Barmaster who was in charge of the court.
