Parwich – Circular Walk

Start at: Parwich . Grid ref: SK 187 544 . Difficulty: Easy . Distance: 8 km .

From the centre of Parwich head along Dam Lane to where it bends to the right. Take the footpath on the left here and follow it through the fields for just over a kilometre ignoring paths heading off. Approaching Parish Lees go between the two small groups of trees to join a main track and a right turn onto Dam Lane again. Turn right and head towards Parwich but after a few metres a path on the left provides a way on.

Follow the path to a crossroads and pass behind Parwich Lees before climbing quite steeply then after a short level section dropping down again, this time into Alsop en le Dale. Walk through Alsop en le Dale to where a path heads off left at the apex of the right hand bend and head uphill to join the Tissington Trail.

Turn left along the trail , initially parallel to the busy Ashbourne road, then meandering left then right to reach the well-marked Tissington exit. Drop down from the trail to join Bent Lane, turning left and away from the village and follow the road for a kilometre, passing Bent Farm on the left along the way. As the road starts to descend take the second path on the left to leave the road behind and drop downhill past Gorsehill Farm.

Pass the farm and then Bletch Brook before starting uphill again to a fork in the path. Take the left hand path at the fork and climb, quite steeply now, with the stream on the left getting increasingly distant though still running parallel. Continue with the stream below for the next 800 metres to a T junction where a right turn will lead you directly back into Parwich.
