Learn new skills including Patchwork, Quilting, Embroidery, Spinning, Weaving, Knitting and Crochet, all in relaxed and friendly surroundings.

We at Heirs and Graces are passionate not just about the crafts themselves but about the history of those crafts and the process that goes into creating the tools and supplies that we then stock for you to enjoy.

We are happy to help and to give advice. We have been in business for over thirty years and stock an extremely wide range of Patchwork, Embroidery, Knitting, Weaving and Spinning supplies.

Patchwork and Quilting

There are various patchwork and quilting courses to attend at our training room in Derbyshire including the Block a month course where you attend one day per month for six months with time in between each training day to practice. At the end of the six days, you will have learned the skills to give you the confidence to tackle most traditional quilt blocks. Embroidery Courses
There are various embroidery courses to attend at our training room in Derbyshire including the Block a month course where you attend one day per month for six months and learn from basic to more advanced stitches to create a walled garden. We also run courses such as Goldwork, Silk Ribbon and Blackwork where you can learn all about these crafts to create beautiful works of art. Spinning and Weaving

Our spinning and Weaving courses cover a number of the traditional crafts including spinning with a drop spindle and a spinning wheel. Weaving classes include inklette weaving and rigid heddle weaving. There are classes for complete beginners and also for more experienced weavers looking to expand their skills.

Knitting and Crochet

Our current knitting class is a sock knitting workshop, this class is aimed at people who can already knit at a basic level. It is split over three separate two hour lessons, each a month apart in order to give you time to get ready for each stage of the sock. More knitting classes may be added over time if demand is there.

Sewing

Discover how to get the best out of your sewing machine, learn how to use any special functions and features that you have probably not used yet, or as a beginner, just learn your way around a sewing machine.

‘Know your sewing machine’ is currently the main sewing course we run, however, if we have sufficient demand from our customers, we will add more courses over time. So if there is anything you are interested in, just give us a call.
Felting

Needle felting, in a nutshell, uses a sharp needle to turn wool roving into 3-D objects. It is a satisfying craft to practice and you can create some beautiful projects using this skill. Our Felting workshop is aimed at beginners and to see details of this class.
