Learn to Fly fish in the Peak District on a stunning section of the beautiful River Wye with all tackle provided & Qualified Instructors & Coaches to help you along. All you have to do is turn up with a positive attitude, a picnic lunch, a hat & glasses – there must be a catch & indeed there was!
In fact the youngsters who took part in the Salmon & Trout Association (South Yorkshire Branch) Junior Day made quite a few catches of beautiful Brown & Rainbow Trout on what turned out to be a fantastic day.
The youngsters arrived for 10am and were introduced to the coaching team who gave them a safety talk before showing them how to cast a fly. After that it was off to the river bank to try and outsmart some wily Brown & Rainbow Trout. With just a little help & a few pointers it wasn’t too long before fish were coming to the nets. After a break for lunch it was back to the river and yet again the skills, so quickly learned, were being put to good use. Proceedings were brought to a close at 4:30pm and the consensus was that everyone had enjoyed a great day on the river.
One youngster was heard to say the day had been “absolutely magic!” and indeed Fly fishing does have a habit of “casting a spell” on those who try it.
The Coaching Team all agreed that the youngsters were very keen to learn & had picked up the skills very quickly. It had been a privilege to teach such well behaved and enthusiastic young people.
