Solomon’s Temple, Buxton

Solomon’s Temple stands near to the summit of Grin Low, amid a succession of dips and hollows, from where there are wonderful views of Buxton and the surrounding moors.

The temple was a Victorian folly built in 1896 on the site of a bronze age burial mound and is named after a publican of nearby Buxton named Solomon Mycock who instructed it to be built to provide work for the unemployed of the area.

It is still possible to go up a spiral staircase to the viewing platform on the top.
